The Thunder competed in their first scrimmage of the season against the Madison County Red Sox on Monday night.
The competition was spirited, and the game allegedly ended in a tie after six innings. Six different boys got a chance to pitch, and everyone got to see their first 9U live pitching of the season.
There is still much to work on (especially stealing bases and running to first on missed third strikes), but all in all the Thunder represented well, and it was a good experience that the teams may repeat later in the year.
Home of the Thunder
Welcome to Thunder Road, the on-line home of the Sand Mountain Thunder baseball club.
Because the Thunder is a 9U Kid Pitch Tournament Team comprised of boys from across North Alabama, travel is part of their game. Hence the name, Thunder Road.
Here you'll find news about the team, a schedule of upcoming games, details about our latest victory, valuable information about our sponsors, and ways you can support the team. But that's not all. You can also use Thunder Road to travel to other youth baseball sites or to comment or ask questions.

Hot, Fresh, Wow!!
Thanks to many hungry Jackson County residents and sleepy diligent parents, the Thunder successfully completed their first fund-raiser of the year!!It started with a dream and some help from Krispy Kreme, but several hours and 800 dozen delicious doughnuts later, the Thunder had rolled up approximately $2700. This money will be used to purchase uniforms and pay upcoming tournament registration fees.
Thanks again to everyone!!
